These were the words of everyone who saw these photos.
At our rural Emthaleni Stay-in Centre for Orphans, we faced a challenge familiar to many South Africans: escalating electricity costs,
prepaid power that never seemed to last, load shedding, and at times, relying on candlelight. How good God has been to us! Through the support of Tearfund and other generous donors, we were able to install solar panels and generate our own electricity. This has made a tremendous difference in the lives of the children and staff at the centre.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this possible — those who gave financially, those who travelled to be part of the project, and those who climbed onto the roof to do the hard work of installation. Your generosity and dedication have brought light, hope, and practical relief to our home.
The Bible teaches us that “true religion is to look after widows and orphans in their distress” (James 1:27). We are deeply grateful to all who have put this truth into action through their support of Emthaleni.
